Sept. 10, 2007
HUNTINGTON, W. Va. - The UAB women's golf team is sitting in fourth place out of eight teams after two rounds at the Lady Herd Fall Classic. The Blazers tallied a two-round total of 661 at the Guyun Golf and Country Club on Monday, despite rain in the area throughout the day. "The rain got them a little bit," said UAB head coach Kim Wilcox. "I thought they played well on the back nine of the second round, but they let the weather affect them earlier in the day." Junior Alyson Mitchell led UAB with a score of 158 on the day, including a team low first-round score of 77, to place in a tie for sixth place overall. Sophomore Carolyn Cochran is tied for 11th place with a total of 163, while junior Christina Wentworth is tied for 16th position with a score of 168. Freshman Jamie Brabb shot a 172 to put herself in 25th place following her first day of collegiate competition. Redshirt freshman Ashley Looney is in 38th, tallying a score of 191. James Madison is leading the competition with a team score of 623, including a low score of 310 in the first round. Old Dominion is in second with a total of 641, while host-school Marshall sits in third place at 642.
