UAB Women's Golf Finishes Myrtle Beach Tournament in 11th Place

MYRTLE BEACH, S. C. - The UAB women's golf team shot a final round of 326 to finish the Unlimited Potential/Myrtle Beach Classic in 11th place with a three-round total of 955. The two-day, 16-team tournament was won by host-school College of Charleston with a score of 890, followed closely by Southern Illinois, who boasted an 892. Sophomore Alyson Mitchell was UAB's top performer with rounds of 75-74-73 to end in eighth place with a three-round score of 222. Senior Martha Hudson finished in a tie for 31st place, tallying rounds of 73-77-81 for her 231 total. Senior Jennifer Head tied for 67th overall with a 248, while freshman Carolyn Cochran shot a 255 to finish in a tie for 77th position and sophomore Christina Wentworth posted a 270 to put her in 84th place. Araceli Felgueroso of Coastal Carolina University won the individual portion with rounds of 71-70-71 to finish with a seven-under 212. Kelly Gerlach of Southern Illinois and College of Charleston's Emily Rapp rounded out the top three with scores of 217 and 218 respectively. The Blazers next tournament will begin on Saturday, September 30 when they compete in the Great Smokies Intercollegiate held in Waynesville, N.C.
