Sept. 30, 2007

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The UAB women's golf team concluded its play at the Yale Invitational on Sunday by finishing in 13th place with a two-round total of 680. Yale won the tournament title by shooting rounds of 307 and 312 at the Yale Golf Course.

"I thought we played better today," said UAB head coach Kim Wilcox. "We still didn't play as well as we would have liked, but we did better than yesterday. We just need to go back to work and try to continue to improve."

Harvard took the second spot with a 627, followed by Rollins in third with a total of 628. Georgetown and St. John's placed in fourth and fifth, respectively, with scores of 638 and 640 to round out the top five.

Sophomore Carolyn Cochran and junior Alyson Mitchell were UAB's top performers, both concluding the event with scores of 164 to tie for 35th place in the individual standings.

Freshman Lindsay Taylor recorded rounds of 90 and 85 to tie for 67th with a total of 172. Junior Christina Wentworth tied for 77th place by carding a 177 over the weekend. Freshman Emi Boozer rounded out the Blazers' efforts in 78th place with a score of 184.

Yale's Lindsay Hong and St. John's Brittany Lambertson tied for the individual crown by tallying identical scores of 152.

The Blazers will return to action on Oct. 8 when they begin competition at the Lady Indian Classic in Jonesboro, Ark.
