UAB Women's Golf Tied for 10th After First Day At Beacon Woods Invitational

BAYONET POINT, Fla. --- The UAB women's golf team is tied for 10th overall in the Beacon Woods Invitational at Beacon Woods Country Club here on Friday afternoon. The Blazers shot a combined 307 on the day and are tied with Florida International for 10th.

Elizabeth Schweihs, who is tied for 24th overall, led the Blazers with a 76 in the first round of competition. Brooke Mangan, Janey Deimling and Kelli Cassidy are all tied for 29th overall after shooting 77 on the day. Martha Hudson shot an 83 and is tied for 53rd overall.

Coastal Carolina leads the event after shooting an opening round of 286 as a team. USF's Fernanda Rivera leads the competition with a first round 67, as she set the course record for women and the tournament record.

Play will continue Saturday, with a final round of 18 holes scheduled for Sunday on the par 72, 6,015-yard course.
