Blazers Sit In Eighth After Day One Of Ann Rhoads Shootout
Feb. 26, 2007 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB women's golf team is tied for eighth place out of 21 competing teams after day one of the Ann Rhoads Shootout, hosted by Birmingham-Southern. The Blazers shot a 323 during round one to tie with Murray State for the eighth spot. Birmingham-Southern is currently holding the tournament lead with a first-round total of 303. Belmont University is in second with a score of 310 and Arkansas State University shot a 313 during day one to sit in third place. Senior Martha Hudson led the Blazers with a score of 78 to sit in a tie for 16th place in the individual standings. Freshman Carolyn Cochran is tied for 19th with a first-round total of 79. Sophomore Alyson Mitchell shot an 82 during day one to tie for 58th overall. Senior Jennifer Head tallied an 84 and senior Lois Jones shot an 88 during day one to place 74th and 102nd. The second and final day of competition will be held on Tuesday at the Brent Brook Golf Course in McCalla, Ala.
