Todd Yelton begins his second season as an assistant coach for the Blazer women’s soccer program. Yelton came to UAB after serving as the head coach of Parkview High School in Atlanta, Ga. In his tenure there, he posted a 59-11-3 overall mark and captured two AAAA State Championships (1997, 1999). In 1999, Parkview ranked 12th in the National Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll and in 1997 Parkview ranked ninth. During the 1998 campaign, his club was an AAAA state finalist and garnered a No. 10 ranking in the NSCAA poll. Twice during his time at Parkview, Yelton was twice named the Georgia State Coach of the Year (1997, 1999). Prior to his stint at Parkview, Yelton served as the women’s soccer coach at Oglethorpe University, also in Atlanta, from 1995- 1997. While at Oglethorpe, he accumulated a 40-32-4 overall record. As a player, his collegiate career began at Tennessee Tech, where he played as freshman. He then transferred to King College, where he was a three-year defensive starter. He earned his bachelor’s degree in History from King College in 1991. A native of Johnson City, Tenn., Yelton and his wife, Shauna, reside in Birmingham with their four-year-old daughter, MacKenzie, and one-year-old Colin. |
