Lori Lindsey scored the game,s only goal in the opening half to lead No. 16 Virginia to a 1-0 women's soccer victory over UAB here Tuesday night.

In a match that was postponed a day to due severe lightning Monday night, the Cavaliers (2-1) got the lone score at the 15:52 mark of the opening half on a ball that got through the defense. Brooke Statsny directed the pass that led to the goal and was credited with an assist on the play.

The Blazers (1-2-1) were limited to three shots in the contest, all in the second half, while goalkeeper Jen Braly The Blazers return home to open the UAB Nike Classic Friday at West Campus Field. UAB opens the tournament with its C-USA opener at 7 p.m. against Marquette. The event opens at 5 p.m. with Auburn squaring off against Texas-El Paso.
