March 27, 2008
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB women's soccer team will be hosting the Mexico Under-20 National Team in a spring scrimmage game on April 10. The match, which will conclude the Blazers' spring schedule, will kick off at 7:00 p.m. CT at West Campus Field. "Mexico has a wonderful tradition of creative, attacking soccer with a lot of flair," said UAB head coach Paul Harbin. "Over the last decade, it's been particularly exciting to see that tradition continue within their women's game. We're honored to have a chance to compete against their U20 National Team as they prepare for their World Cup competition next fall." Admission to the event is $12 for adults, $8 for youth under 18 and fans under five years of age will be admitted free. Groups of 15 or more can purchase tickets for $8 each. Also, UAB students will be admitted free by showing their UAB identification card. "We are hoping to have over 2,000 fans for the game," said Harbin. "Mexico has a tradition of having some of the best fans in the world. Between the game itself, the fans and the festivities surrounding the match, this should be an extremely fun event." Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased by visiting the UAB ticket office at Bartow Arena or by calling (205) 975-UAB1. Tickets will also be available at the gate the day of the game.
