BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB women's soccer team will hit the road for a pair of games at two Big 12 schools this weekend. The Blazers will travel to play the Kansas Jayhawks on Friday, followed by a match with the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Sunday.

UAB (0-3) will be searching for its first win this weekend after three heartbreaking 1-0 losses to start the season. The Blazers fell to Clemson (Aug. 22), Auburn (Aug. 24) and USF (Aug. 29) by one goal.

Freshman Carolyn Polcari is leading UAB on the offensive side by taking a team-high 12 shots this season, including six shots on goal. Four others have taken three shots each on the year.

UAB and Kansas will meet for the first time in program history Friday, with kickoff scheduled for 5 p.m. CT at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex.

Kansas is led by 10th-year head coach Mark Francis and is sporting a 2-0 record to begin the 2008 campaign. The Jayhawks have produced wins over both Purdue (3-0) and Auburn (2-1).

Emily Cressy is pacing Kansas with a pair of goals and one assist on the year. Monica Dolinsky, Missy Geha and Kim Boyer have one goal a piece for the Jayhawks.

The Blazers will take on Nebraska Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. CT at the Nebraska Soccer Field. The Cornhuskers lead the all-time series, 2-0, including most recently a 4-0 win over UAB in 2005.

Nebraska, led by head coach John Walker in his 16th season, is also looking for its first win of the year after going 0-3 to start the season. The Cornhuskers dropped games against Northwestern (4-3), UC-Riverside (1-0) and Florida (6-1).
