UAB Takes On Colorado College, UTEP In C-USA Action This Weekend

The UAB women's soccer team has a pair of Conference USA road games this weekend, with a Friday contest at Colorado College and a Sunday game at UTEP.

UAB enters the weekend at 3-7 overall and 1-1 in league play. The Blazers split their first two conference games last weekend, including a 4-1 win over then-No. 20 UCF and a 1-0 overtime loss to Southern Miss.

Junior Danya Barsalona is UAB's leading scorer with three goals this season. She is followed by freshmen Laura McCalla and Tiffini Turpin with two goals each. Freshman Carolyn Polcari and Marie Yempuku have added one goal apiece to the Blazers' efforts.

Colorado College is sitting at 7-3-1 overall and 1-1 in C-USA. The Tigers' last outing resulted in a 1-0 loss at Tulsa last Sunday. Colorado College is currently ranked No. 9 in the central region by SoccerBuzz and is listed as No. 30 in the nation by Top DrawerSoccer.com.

The Tigers are led by Tiffany Brown with 11 points, including four goals and three assists on the year. Sydney Fetter and Molly Uyenishi have added three goals each on the year for Colorado College.

UTEP is 8-3 overall this season and 1-1 in league games. The Miners are also boasting a 7-0 mark at home.

Cortney Casey and Tameka Sumter are leading UTEP on the field with 10 points and four goals apiece on the year. Brandi Aston is close behind with eight points on three goals and two assists.

UAB and Colorado College will kick off Friday at 4 p.m. MT at Stewart Field in Colorado Springs, Colo. The Blazers and UTEP will tangle Sunday at 1 p.m. MT at University Field in El Paso, Texas.
