BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB women's soccer team has been listed as the No. 25 team in the nation in the first NCAA women's soccer Division I RPI index of the season. The Blazers are one of just two Conference USA schools, as well as the lone team from the state of Alabama, that is listed in the top 25.

UAB, which is ranked as the No. 6 team in the Central Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), has an 8-4-0 overall record, including a 2-2-0 mark in league play.

"We've played an extremely tough schedule with a very young team," said UAB head coach Paul Harbin. "With the exception of one match where we were hit hard by illnesses, our team has been extremely competitive in every match. The Wake Forest, UCF and Colorado College matches could have easily gone in either direction."

The only other school from C-USA that is in the top 25 in the RPI standings is UCF, which is tabbed the No. 5 team in the first RPI index of the year.

"Conference USA is one of the top women's soccer conferences in the country," said Harbin. "The goal now is to stay focused on playing well and continuing to get results. With seven games remaining, our players know they have their work cut out for them."

The Blazers are scheduled for a pair of conference games this weekend when they travel to Houston, Texas to take on Rice on Friday at 7 p.m., followed by a match at Houston on Sunday at 2 p.m.
