UAB's Lisa Nowoslawski Named Academic All-American

Nov. 25, 2002

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- For the second year in a row, UAB women's soccer goalkeeper Lisa Nowoslawski has been named to the 2002 Verizon Academic All-America Women's Soccer University Division first team, it was announced Monday.

The team was selected by members of CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). Nowoslawski is one of three repeat selections, including Katarina Linder of the University of Hartford and Joanna Lohman of Penn State.

"If you truly believe in the ideal of college athletics this is the ultimate honor," said UAB head coach Paul Harbin. "Lisa has risen to the highest level in everything that she has attempted while here at UAB and once again I am extremely proud of her."

Nowoslawki has ended her career at UAB, but not before putting her name all over the Blazer record book. Nowoslawski is UAB's season leader in most saves (103 in 2001), highest save percentage (.824 in 2001), most saves per game (5.15 in 2001), least goals allowed (22 in 2001 and 1999), and best goals allowed average (1.13 in 2001). She's also the Blazers' career leader in most saves (327), most minutes played (5,836) and most wins (29).
