CHICAGO - UAB outfielder Cliffanie Engram has been named the Conference USA Hitter of the Week. Engram, a sophomore from Pelham, Ala., helped lead the Blazers to a 4-2 record on the week, including a 3-1 mark at the Frost Cutlery Tournament in Chattanooga, Tenn., held Friday-Saturday.

A preseason All-Conference USA selection, Engram hit .381 on the week, including a home run, two doubles and seven RBI. Against Jacksonville State Saturday at the Frost Cutlery Tournament, Engram singled in the winning run in the top of the ninth, posted three RBI, a double and another single in UAB's 8-6 nine-inning victory. In UAB's 4-3 victory over Chattanooga Friday at the tournament, Engram went 3-4 with a two-run homer, a double, a single and three RBI.

UAB (9-11, 0-0 Conference USA) will compete in the Samford University Invitational Friday-Sunday in Pelham, Ala. The Blazers open the tournament against Auburn (11-6, 0-0 Southeastern Conference) Friday at 3 p.m.
