BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB men's and women's tennis team are both ranked in the latest Fila Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national rankings. The women's squad is ranked 57th in the country after starting the season 6-0, while the Blazer men rank 75th thanks to their 4-1 start.

The men's team catapulted itself on to the national scene by going 3-0 at the Conference USA Shootout at Southern Miss Feb. 22-24. Freshman Dan Cornei earned C-USA Player of the Week honors for his play at Southern Miss.

The Blazer women are led by freshman Evelien Strijker who is 9-3 overall and 5-1 in dual match play this season.

The UAB men's team will next be in action on Monday when it hosts Tennessee-Martin at Brook Highland Racquet Club at 1:00 p.m. The women will host Arkansas State on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. at Brook Highland.
