BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Four members of the UAB women's tennis team will compete this weekend at the ITA Fall Southern Regional, hosted by Auburn University at the Tigers' Yarborough Tennis Center.

Evelien Strijker, Paula Alvarez, Giorgia Romeo and Brittany DeFelice will all compete in the singles draw. The doubles pairs of Strijker/Alvarez and Romeo/DeFelice will represent the Blazers in the doubles competition.

In addition to UAB and host Auburn, other teams sending participants to the regional include Alabama, Troy, LSU, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Tulane and Samford.

Play begins Friday with doubles action at 8 a.m. and is scheduled to continue through Monday. Tournament draws will be updated daily at auburntigers.com, the official site for Auburn athletics.

The Blazers last competed two weekends ago at the UNF Hampton Inn 9A & Baymeadows Fall Tennis Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla., where Romeo highlighted the action for UAB by finishing as the runner-up in her singles flight.
