Collins Named C-USA Track and Field Co-Athlete of the Week

DALLAS ----- UAB senior Genoah Collins has been named Conference USA Track and Field Co-Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday. Collins participated in the 800-meter run, distance medley relay and 4x400-meter relay for the Blazers this past weekend at the Niswonger Invitational. She took first place in the 800-meter dash, recording a league-best time of 2:11.81. She was also instrumental in the Blazers' first-place finish in the distance medley relay, which improved upon its conference best mark of 11:53.31. Collins also ran the second leg of the 4x400-meter relay squad that was the runner-up with a time of 3:46.49, a mark that ranks second on the C-USA top performance charts. Collins becomes the second UAB track and field athlete be named Conference USA Indoor Athlete of the Week. The previous weekly honor went to former Blazer Theresa Smith on Jan. 21, 2003.
