Trio Of Blazers Finish Day One Of Heptathlon At LSU Track Meet
March 29, 2007 BATON ROUGE, La. - The UAB women's track and field team has three athletes that have completed day one of the women's heptathlon at the LSU Combined Events meet at the Bernie Moore Track Stadium in Baton Rouge, La. Erin Harris, Christina Chambers and Timara McMillan competed in four of the heptathlon's seven events on Thursday afternoon. Harris was UAB's top performer on day one, currently standing in sixth place with 2,948 points. Harris opened the meet with a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.46. She went also placed eighth in the high jump (1.52 meters), fifth in the shot put (10.43 meters) and third in the 200-meter dash (25.61). McMillan finished the first day of competition in eighth place with 2,653 points. She took sixth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.87 and seventh in the 200-meter dash, clocking a time of 26.42. In the field events, McMillan placed ninth in the high jump with a height of 1.49 meters and finished 10th in the shot put with a throw of 8.36 meters. Chambers is sitting in the 11th spot with a total of 2,306 points. In the running events, she placed 11th in the 100-meter hurdles (15.90) and ninth in the 200-meter dash (26.83). Chambers also finished 12th in the high jump with a mark of 1.40 meters, while also taking 12th in the shot put with a throw of 7.09 meters. The final three events of the women's heptathlon, the long jump, javelin throw and 800-meter run, will be held on Friday at the Bernie Moore Track Stadium.
