July 10, 2007 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB's cross country and track & field head coach Ray Stanfield will be one of the keynote speakers for the Track & Field All-Star Coaching School Thursday at the 11th Annual Alabama All-Star Sports Week in Huntsville, Ala. Stanfield will join three-time Olympian and Alabama head men's track & field coach, Harvey Glance, as the featured speakers at the Track & Field All-Star Coaching School. Stanfield will give an hour-long presentation on the principles of distance running, while Glance will speak about sprints and relays. "It is an honor to be asked to speak to the Alabama high school coaches," said Stanfield. "The athletes of this state are essential to our success with the way that I run my recruiting. "The week-long Alabama All-Star Sports Week is a great gathering for the coaches of this state. I look forward to sharing with the cross country and track coaches in attendance." In 2007, Stanfield will begin his sixth year at the helm of the Blazers' cross country and track and field programs. During his time at the forefront of UAB cross country, he has produced a C-USA title in 2006 and the league's Athlete of the Year in Elizabeth Ambrus during the 2005 season. His successes with the track & field team are also astounding, including 24 all-conference performers, 22 NCAA Regional qualifiers, 2 NCAA National qualifiers and the 2005 C-USA Indoor Coach of the Year honor. Stanfield's appearance is scheduled for Thursday, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
