Bozic Honored Again As C-USA Offensive Player Of The Week

IRVING, Texas -- For the second time this season and the third time in her career, UAB volleyball player Ivana Bozic has earned Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week honors. The senior outside hitter took home the award Monday, as announced by the league office. Bozic averaged 5.17 kills per set and posted a .426 attack percentage last week as she helped the Blazers to a pair of 3-0 sweeps over C-USA foes Tulsa and SMU. In Friday's contest against Tulsa, Bozic tallied a match-high 14 kills and a .440 attack percentage. Sunday, in the win over SMU, she led all players with 17 kills and logged a .417 attack percentage. Bozic also added a match-best 15 digs in the SMU contest on the way to her 11th double-double of the season. Earlier this season, Bozic became the ninth player in UAB history to join the 1,000 kill/1,000 dig club. She has now posted 1,692 kills and 1,208 digs in her four-year career. In last week's matches, Bozic led a UAB offensive attack that out-hit its opponents .401 to .179. The Blazers recorded kills on 103 of their 150 points in the two matches combined. With the two victories, UAB improved to 18-3 overall and has now captured 12 consecutive wins. Additionally, the Blazers remained in first place in the C-USA standings at 8-1 in league play. UAB returns to action Friday at 7 p.m. CT with a home contest against Southern Miss. UAB players have now been honored six times in 2008 with C-USA weekly awards. Monday's award marks the fourth consecutive week at least one UAB player has received an honor from the league office.
